Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Silja Graupe durch die studentische Gruppe „PINE. Pluralism in Economics“ der Universität Maastricht.
A cognitice science based textbook analysis and alternative ways of teaching.
Students and future decision makers of many majors must learn to think „like an economist“. An reasonable imperative of our time? Prof. Dr. Silja Graupe has analysed in detail the langage and frames used in economic textbooks. Drawing on cognitive science and propaganda theory, she shows that economic textbooks fail seriously and systematically an objective ideal of science. Beyond uncovering the impact of economics by unconscious learning, alternative ways of economic education will get explicated. The example of economic education at the freshly founded Cusanus University will serve as a benchmark for an open discussion.
